Studio Lotus designed Krushi Bhawan in southeast India's Odisha state as a place for people, cultural and environmental sustainability and work."Can the buildings here provide a narrative of its socio-cultural context and yet show a way forward? The chief minister of Odisha essentially wanted to create an icon for New Odisha and took personal interest in the role of architecture and design to make a difference," recalls Ambrish Arora, Co-Founder and Design Principal at Studio Lotus.The building responds ingeniously to the concerns of sustainability through simple, self-devised and local solutions that helped reduce the energy demands considerably - suggesting a way forward for appropriate, responsive architecture.
