The brief for the interesting combination project of Keya & Kainoosh came with clear instructions — create a sophisticated Indian fine dining restaurant and bar. The challenge was that there was to be a common kitchen for both entities.
The real task was to establish a relationship between the two brands that made the kitchen an intersecting diagonal block and at the same time granted individualistic characters to both the spaces it catered to. Kainoosh was developed as an amalgam of spaces—the linear entry corridor, the circular restaurant and the rectangular private dining room. Drawing inspiration from traditional Indian crafts and architecture, the space remains fairly contemporary and monolithic; with a CNC-cut cement board jaali as the backdrop for the entire restaurant.
