Rajesh Pratap Singh Flagship Store

Retail | DLF Emporio, New Delhi
The humble tailor’s tool, a pair of scissors, is elevated in its unique use as a metaphor to craft the Rajesh Pratap Singh Flagship Store as a minimalist signature space evocative of the designer’s purity of approach.

<rt-red>The inspiration for the store housing Rajesh Pratap Singh’s prêt collection<rt-red> in an ultra-premium mall in Delhi, came from the fashion designer’s impeccably-cut, artisanal garments that stand apart because of their faultlessly clean lines and careful detailing.

<rt-red>Scissors, laid into motifs and patterns, create a lace-like surface wrapped on the walls and ceiling to form an enclosure<rt-red>. To source the right kind of scissors for the lattice, the team sifted through thousands, made from iron to alloys; rejecting several as they lacked the structural strength required for the welded panels. <rt-red>The entire metal mesh and building shell were then painted an identical white for a monochromatic palette.<rt-red>The grey sandstone floor, textured using shot blasting and brushing techniques, rises and folds to shape two blocks and accentuates it.

<rt-red>A lighting plan of naked par lamps simply suspended through the scissor grid reinforces the concept’s brevity.<rt-red> In resonance, the store signage finds space as cut metal letters mounted on the floor, keeping the visual of the façade clean and fuss-free.
