Setting out to create a boutique experience drawing from the historic setting, <rt-red>Studio Lotus conceptualised a two-phased approach for the project.<rt-red>

The Palace interiors, as part of an old restoration drive, had been swathed in white plaster—detracting from the user experience and inducing a sense of monotony as one moved through the spaces. With the original sandstone columns stripped bare, <rt-red>the renewed F&B spaces in the poolside West Wing have been populated with contemporary inserts in timber and brass, and feature frescos in lime plaster.<rt-red>

To connect these spaces, a metal staircase—rendered in the same grey as the local sandstone—has been crafted, whose perforated plates and metal balusters sit lightly against the solidity of the historic edifice. In the Durbar Hall, the shell has been similarly stripped of plaster to reveal the grey and red sandstone detailing. <rt-red>A bespoke wenge-wood bar forms the visual anchor to the lounge, with plush furnishings and low-hung lights introducing intimacy to the previously bare space.<rt-red>

Restored to their former glory, the jharokhas along the Durbar Hall have been turned into cosy baithak-style seating spaces, offering panoramic views of the valley. The verandah also serves as a viewing gallery for performances in the Lounge; <rt-red>a neutral colour palette combined with added elements such as marble tabletops inlaid with a Ludo board game layout evoke a sense of laidback luxury. <rt-red>

Studio Lotus' interventions of creating connections and differentiated experiences have helped guests embark on journeys of discovery and revelations— <rt-red>transforming their stay at RAAS Devigarh into engaging memories they will want to revisit.<rt-red>
